Anywhere on the Vineyard is going to be very costly. You're better off staying in Falmouth or Hyannis, at a chain hotel like the Best Western, and taking the daily ferry which costs around $5.00 to the Vineyard, if you're worried about costs. You'll actually find more to do that way anyhow, and the ferry can be fun as well!

We stayed in Falmouth and took the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. If you are just staying for one day, that's what I'd recommend doing. The hotels are cheaper and the ferry will get you there early enough in the morning that you will have the whole day to rent a car (we rented a Jeep Wrangler) and drive around the island to see all of the sites.

This is where we stayed:

It is two blocks (walking distance) to the ferry and offers free breakfast coupons for their restaurant. It's a little outdated, but reasonably priced for the location. There's also a good family restaurant down the street called "99".

Have fun!!

You can try staying at a youth hostel on the island, they tend to be MUCH CHEAPER and as good as other bed & breakfast places on the island. Some of the hostels on the island offer $25 a night, but most times are dorm beds.

Try these very helpful links:
