Do you encourage your kids to listen to what you did when you were young?

My boys are young but they listen to all the rock groups from when I was young. Aerosmith is one of their favorites, but when I picked them up last night my youngest one sat in the back seat singing "Do the lucky Lady".....If Steven Tylor had thought of that,he,he,he

Yes! I encourage my daughter to listen to old R&B, back when the singers could sing and there where no rappers messing up a perfectly good song! I also play Instrumental music around her (especially Movie Scores), as well as Classic Rock and other things. I'm fluid when it comes to my musical tastes, but I know one thing: there will be none of that horrible rap, pop and country of today played in my house. I can get down with some Run DMC, early Mariah Carey, and Kenny Rogers, but that crap from today is awful.

I dont actually encourage them but I let my oldest 13 y/o go through all my cd's and pick out ones she likes and they just so happen to be all the 80's number ones she loves them and at least they are cleaner than what they listen to today

I let my kids choose whatever type of music they want too. When my kids were younger I played a variety of music for them in hopes they do enjoy ALL types of music like I do. I don't really have a preference when it comes to music but i do have a favourite band mmMMmm Bon Jovi mmMMmm

I listen to them and my parents didn't encourage me. They are happy I do listen to them though because now I like to go to concerts with my dad. He used to have no one to go with but now I have been to Tom Petty, Allman Brothers, Steve Miller, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith with him.
