How would it go over if we said White voices. or Miss White America. Bull Sh-t if they want to be treated the same then they need to end this crap . I asked this question because on AOL there is a section for Black Voices I feel it is wrong! since when do voices have a color? if we were to reverse it and call it white vioces I am SURE it would be all over the news Aol is Raciest. is it ok to have Miss Balck America when we have Miss Amecica.

This would be pointless. People would then use the "n" word in place of "black" and claim they do so because saying black is now against the law.

Also, the government can not create a law that would prohibit certain word use as there is currently this little thing called freedom of speech.

However I do see what you mean. They probably made that thing called "black voices" and created all the other special names and category's to prevent any "black" individual claiming racism. God forbid black and white voices be categorized under one!

Exactly what's wrong with Miss Black America? I wouldn't have a problem with a Miss Asian or Latina America either. This country is predominatley white. What's wrong with individual cultures celebrating their own? And what do blacks win all the time, because I can't think of anything...FYI Blacks are not treated 'the same way' and I doubt that I will be alive when that day comes. America is still quite racist.

File a civil suit against AOL for reverse discrimination.

File a complaint with AOL.

Contact someone who cares.

I am "White" and do not oppose "Black Entertainment Channels" on TV (there has been too many "all white" stations for far too long).

It hasn't worked before for any race, religion, etc...

Changing the labels to help keep anyone from taking offense for something just doesn't work. It might help some, but others will still take offense. What is needed is honesty, understanding, compassion, and love. The ability to look past our own prejudices, to overcome them, and to reach out to others as people, not colors.

Rude, inflammatory interaction only adds fuel to the fire. Let's all learn respect and kindness. Look inside ourselves and shine that mirror of introspection before we ever turn it outward. That'd be a good place to start.

Well what are we going to call them RED, are they going to call us ORANGE. I mean this is over the top.
get over it. They are black and we are white indians are Red and so forth.
somethings are just what they are and I am not racist. You say I don't understand the question. So its not the calling them Black you want to change, you just want to do away with things like the Miss Black Universe and things.I can see the point reversal discrimination. But really it goes back to not using the word black same basic Question.
Sorry get over it

DC, I don't like to call people names but you are being an ***. I'll answer, assuming that you really want to know the answer the question you ask.

DC, since when did people have to give up their culture to satisfy you? Is that what the price of equality is, giving up ones culture? Why should blacks have to give up their culture? Should they be denied entrance into society because they want to practice their culture? No, that would be asinine.

You see, whites of old played this game with blacks a long time ago. You know the game where they convince blacks that if they just gave up their culture and embraced white culture they would be accepted into society. Well you see how well that turned out. Haven't you heard of Jim Crow laws? They made it legal for whites to keep blacks out of their schools, parks, businesses, etc. Those laws were in effect from the 1850's to the 1960's. My parents lived this. My mother got in trouble for eating lunch in the nice white peoples lunch room at her job at the hospital.

Don't you pretend like just out of the freakin' blue, blacks decided to separate themselves. History tells us that the whites of old were the ones who wanted to keep blacks separated. Therefore, if blacks want to have a forum where they can discuss black issues or celebrate black beauty, what is it to you? Come on now! How would you feel if the generations that came before you were made to feel like they were nothing? This is supposed to be America. This is supposed to be a free country.

Whites are free to have their racist white supremacist sites. You know the ones that want a white-only America. Perhaps you are one of them. Whites also are free to have their white-only college groups and their white-only scholarships. And guess what, in America, people are free to speak out against those groups, just like you are doing now. Just because someone is speaking out against something does not mean that that group will stop its existence. When government funding is involved, segregation is not permitted.

Sure, you may have a problem with some blacks who are morons and cause trouble for themselves, then claim that they are being discriminated against. I have a problem with them too. However, for the rest of us that just want to have a forum to discuss issues related to black culture, there is no problem with that. Don’t lump all black people together as one. We are not all the same.

We have enough unconstitutional laws. Let's try to focus on getting rid on some of them and quit thinking up new ones.
