no here in Jamaica they use a piercing gun the same one they use to pierce the ear. only takes a few seconds and not painful either only feels like a tiny pinch. and then they dress it and instruct you how to care it till it heals properly. plus the navel ring goes in same time with the piercing gun no need to now the navel ring, just dress it . My friend did hers and she said it only felt a bit sore for the first 2 days then it was OK.

Your piercing sounds very painful ouch!

In the United States, a needle is used to make the piercing and then it is removed. A small metal ring is placed in the hole and snapped closed so that it does not come out. The ring is not removed until the piercing is completely healed. Antibiotic ointment is applied often and the site is cleaned with peroxide daily.

Continually moving a thread through the site is going to cause irritation of the healing skin and will delay the healing of the piercing.
That is honnestly about the wierdest thing I've heard of doing with a piercing.

My recommendation is to buy a navel ring and sanitize it with alcohol. remove the string and insert the navel ring into the piercing and leave it there as long as it takes for the wound to heal.

Increased pain, redness, sweeling and draining are signs of infection and should be examined by a doctor. Cleans the site once or twice a day with peroxide and apply a tripple antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin 2-3 times a day.

Here in Texas when I had my navel (and nose) done they did it with a hollow needle and with their hand, no guns and no thread. They then inserted the jewelry. After reading all the other ways to do this I am happy I live in Texas!!! Good luck, I really dont know what to tell you bc I didn't have the same experience as you are having.

When I got mine done 2 years ago in the United States, they first made a mark on the area with a marker and asked me if it was straight or not. Then they took a long hollow needle with a sharp point and stuck it through the mark to make a hole. She then put a small barbell through it. They told me to put either saline solution (contact solution) or or Bactine (which is an antiseptic that is used for burns, wounds, cuts, etc.) on it. It's also a good idea to clean it everyday when you are in the bath or shower with mild soap and move it up and down to make sure it's clean. Good luck with it!

Ouch! I don't know what the guy was thinking, but I think you should take the thread thing out! Clean it properly with salty water (boil a cup of water and stir in a tea spoon or two of salt, leave it till it cools, dab it on lightly with cottonwool) and leave it till it heals. Go to a real professional piercing studio. PLz take it out. u'll get an infection and thats not nice.

Holy crap!!!! I had my navel pierced among other things when I was 16 that was 13 years ago and he used a piercing gun. I would take that string out of there.Soft material carries bacteria more that the ring would and it stays moist on the inside. TAKE IT OUT!!! and go to a real piercing guy.

Here in England, they pierce it with a hook and then put the bar/ ring in straight away. They say to apply TDC 4 times a day and move the bar about every now and then. They say not to change the bar for atleast 6 months.

They are suppose to use a gage needle. Then insert the ring. Take the string out. You could get a serious infection. Wait till it heals. Then go to a professional body piercer.
