I have a chance to do nude modeling at an art school. I have never done it before but could use the money. Any of you ever done it? What do you think it would be like to stand up in front of a room full of people?

I modeled nude for a college art class, and it was just fine. It was a little weird at first, but everyone was very respectful and I relaxed before long. There was nothing sexual about it--the students were there to sketch, nothing more. The most difficult part about it, honestly, was that I sometimes got cold!

I can give you some insight. If you are the sort that hides under a towel in a changing room or a rampant exhibitionist that gets off on the idea of posing then forget it. You need to be totally comfortable in your skin as your body will be looked by anything from 1 to 100 students. What they will draw will not necessarily be how you see yourself so you should have no hang ups or insecurities about your looks. You don't need to have a perfect body in fact it is more interesting for an artist to draw someone that has wrinkles and saggy bits. You will have to stand in a variety of poses (these should not be degrading) for anything from 2 minutes up to an hour. Artists should treat you with total respect as there is an ettiquette that surrounds life drawing. For example when you enter the room you wear a robe. All artists should be ready.Whoever is supervising the session will tell them how long the pose is for and then you take off your robe and pose as directed. While you are naked no one should enter or leave the room. There should be no talking at all, definately no giggling and people answering their mobile. When the pose is finished you put back on your robe. You should be kept warm and comfortable, treated with respect and allowed proper breaks. The money is good because It is hard work, prepare for your muscles to be stiff afterwards.

Not everyone in the class will be a great artist. Not every male will be gay, so you will need to be comfortable with yourself being seen nude by people who may enjoy seeing you nude. All classes are done with respect for the model, so you don't need to be worried about rude behavior.

Isis, I'm an artist, trust me thoughts are not directed inthe way you think. It is fine, but hope it is warm in the room and the worst thing that can happen is you might get stiff or bored. Go ahead and do it though, no shame in it.

Arts students are usually women, gay, or perfectly capable of keeping their wits about them in a different way. Worry about the air conditioning or open windows, not the art students.

Its fine, the artists dont care what u look like they are just wanting to draw u, its not uncomfortable at all, and to be honest quite a few of the male artists will be either be gay or loopy!
