Which has the best facilities for anti-natal care and giving birth? Do you know if there are private rooms within the maternity ward?

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and deliberating between these three hospitals also. The first to be struck off my list is Watford as it is too far. the next is the royal free as this is a teaching hospital, i don't really fancy having a load of students peering at me whilst i am huffing and puffing in labour and it is old and they have recently made a load of staff cut backs. I have been to Barnet delivery suite a few times and they always seem very friendly - almost like i have popped in for a coffee than turning up panicked out of my head that i can't feel baby moving etc! they have a very relaxed approach which is great as it really puts you at ease - it made me feel like i was in good hands. The hospital is nice and new and they have 9 private delivery rooms with en-suite bathrooms and also water birth facilities. It seemed very clean and modern on my visit. I plan to do tours this weekend of all my possible choices as i think this will allow me to make an informed decision based on hard facts as opposed to what other people have recommended or not! If you phone the hospitals they will be able to give you details of when you can visit for a tour.

Have you considered Edgware Midwifery led unit? Apaprently it i lovely - a home from home atmosphere and double beds so your partner can stay over night after your labour - should you chose to stay in of course!

Good luck with your labour! xxxxx

My sister had all 3 of her babies in Barnet as she thought it was the better hospital. I have heard to many bad things about Watford Hospital so I would never use it.

Royal Free i would say has the best facilities
Barnet- has very high MRSA rates don't go there
Watford- i'm not too sure

If i had to choose where to take a patient i would take them to Royal Free

Good luck with the birth

All my 10 kids have been born at Watford General so they get my vote.
