Briefly. You want to give the potential employer enough information to be interested in interviewing you. Thats all you need. The extra information is essentially a wasted effort.

Be brief. A resume won't get you a job, it will (at best) get you an interview. Imagine yourself as the hiring manager. What would YOU want to read? A synopsis of your skills and accomplishments is MUCH better than a huge file (which, by the way, no manager will have the time to read)

Save the details for the interview. Put some high points of your skills in a cover letter.

keep a couple of things in mind:

be brief- a corp comm manager of a very famous co. had told me that no senior personnel with a busy schedule has the time or patience to go through more than 2 pages of a CV.

Keep all the points relevant to the job youre applying for (including extra and co-curriculars)

Try and put stuff in bullet points under clear heads so that the interviewer knows what to look for..

...leave the rest for the interview...thats the time to elaborate...

Verifiable honesty for sure.

Focus on your accomplishments and strengths. Be specific, don't generalize.

Make one page if at all possible.

Make everything line up and be visually pleasing.

MS Word, as well as others, have great templates for manufacturing a resume...many online job sites have it, too, but I prefer Word.

Good luck!

You need to be brief, but be sure not to leave anything out that might make you seem like the right candidate for the job you are applying for.

There are lots of books out there. If you don't want to buy one try your local library.

Elaborate... It's the only chance you get to put your information forward. Use lots of very descriptive words... Good luck!
