Congratulations!!! What ever you do, don't go back to smoking. I think the best way to not smoke is to realize what you have just done for your body and that is you have quit poisoning it. Within just a few days you will breathe easier( after you cough up a lot of junk from your lungs).Within a few months your lungs start to heal, you will have more energy and self-respect.If you have children in the house with you, quitting means that they won't have damaged lungs either. Do it for you and your family.

Firstly as so many before me have congratulated you. So well done.
I gave up smoking six months yesterday, i did this will the help of friends and family and also herbal cigarettes these have no nicotine so helps you give up one habit at a time. I smoked about 20 of these in 2 weeks after that i didn't want anymore, it made me feel sick even the thought of smoking. They real helped me i have never looked back and they are chip as chips if you are use to sheding out for normal cigarettes.
Also going to the cinema helps cause you know you dint want a ciggy when your at the cinema :)
OR
you could sit and type all day long on Answers so you dont have time to stop :)
Good luck if you do fall and have a ciggy dont just give up put the ciggy out (after you finished it no point in wasting a perfectly good ciggy LOL) and start again.
xx

Immediately After Quitting
Develop a clean, fresh, nonsmoking environment around yourself—at work and at home. Buy yourself flowers—you may be surprised how much you can enjoy their scent now.
The first few days after you quit, spend as much free time as possible in places where smoking isn't allowed, such as libraries, museums, theaters, department stores, and churches.
Drink large quantities of water and fruit juice (but avoid sodas that contain caffeine).
Try to avoid alcohol, coffee, and other beverages that you associate with cigarette smoking.
Strike up conversation instead of a match for a cigarette.
If you miss the sensation of having a cigarette in your hand, play with something else—a pencil, a paper clip, a marble.
If you miss having something in your mouth, try toothpicks or a fake cigarette.

GREAT FOR YOU. I am back of you 100%. When you inhale smoke it constricts the blood vessels. That is very bad on the heart. I had 4 bypass surgery in 97' and I haven't had a cigarette since. If that won't make a person stop smoking nothing will.
Most of all, try to keep your hands busy. Try not to think of one of those things. Try also chewing gum.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND I HOPE TO SEE ANOTHER QUESTION ON HERE STATING IN SOME WAY THAT YOU HAVE TOTALLY QUIT.

Well done love.
I stopped at 6am Monday, its now 2pm Wednesday.
Got patches, but not used one yet, am just using the gum, about 6 pieces a day.
Don't know about you, but I been smoking 20-40 a day for 20 years now.
Sorry, but my way of dealing with it is to eat, little and often.
Might put some weight on, but rather that than smoke.
Besides, I can exercise and diet later, when I ain't so stressed

I started quitting by making myself go to the garage. It has been cold so would just smoke half and then a couple hours later smoke the other half. Went from 2 packs a day to 4-5 cigs a day. Yesterday was the end date, threw them out the window on the way to work. Threw all the ashtrays away. Last night was pretty tough so I cut a straw in half and would go to the garage and puff on it to try and fool my brain. It did help. So wish me luck.

Deffinatly chew gum..Maybe try Niccorette...it really helps...
But try not to eat. Most women who quit smoking gain weight, due to eating to replace the urge to smoke. Keep your hands busy and do things where you cant smoke..Hide or throw away your ashtrays so you have no place to ash. And keep in mind that you want to quit...YOU WANT TO QUIT!! Its a health concern and you dont want to do it anymore....It will help if you have something to keep your hands busy, and that is one of the most important things to do when you really want to smoke...If you scrapbook or knit...it helps! Knitting is what helped me quit...I made 14 scarves before I was completely done smoking and didnt want one anymore!! now I can make gloves, certain types of sweaters, blankets...Yah know its fun when you see that you can make something functional yourself!! GOOD LUCK and dont GIVE in to the cravings!! Typing and being on the computer is good too, but some poeple like to smoke while they browse the net or whatever!! SO Stay away from things that you normal smoke doing!!
GOOD LUCK!!

Well done! keep it up! If you start to get a bad craving, try and close your eyes and breathe steadily in and out, the craving will pass in about one minute. Good luck

I quit 2 years ago, succesfully. The first 24 hours are the hardest, the first week also is going to be hard. Just think to yourself this is going to get easier and easier. That's the way I did it.
