You should NOT view a vasectomy as a reversible procedure. End of story.
A vasectomy is a simple procedure, a reversal of vasectomy is not so simple, and often is not successful.
There is a point to vasectomy, and that is that it is a definative and permanent method of contraception for men. If there is a chance of wanting children later on, or youre in a relationship that may be less than life-long, you should not consider a vasectomy.
I had one two years ago - best thing I ever did.

I must say that I have to wonder who you are speaking to that regrets having a vasectomy? Most guys are happy to have one if they arent a wuss re the actual surgery AND after theyve had enough kids. If they still think they'd like kids...very few will have one even if wives insist because they arent READY to be neutered!
If you are talking about guys you've DATED...then its because its a natural thing guys say to get into your pants. KNOWING that they are NOT going to get a reversal, or will lie saying they will and then...ooooops it doesnt work (only 50/50 chance anyway so you cant blame me).
So...rule out any vasectomy opinions from dating or possible dating partners because they are lying through their teeth....not reliable evidence at all. Only ask married guys, who've had the op...I'm sure it was a VERY well, and long, thought out decision on their part...even if the missus carks it or runs off with the milkman.

Most doctors will inform the man at the time of the snip, thats its 50/50 for reversal and that he should be regarding it as permanent contraception. I was sterilized 19 years ago, and my second husband wanted it reversed, and I thought better of it as it should always be regarded as permanent for both sexes, came into 3rd marriage with the plain fact of kids not available, not a problem..

What? The reason I had a vasectomy is I have 3 kids and I don't WANT anymore. The fact I've now left my wife, doesn't mean I want more kids with someone else! Total rubbish!
