but they use those stupid sticks for eating? Why didn't they think of the spoon and the fork?

Those stupid sticks are very difficult to use. Eating with our hands is much much better. Those sticks just torture me.

So you think they are intelligent do you? You should see them frantically trying to wave down buses that are clearly marked "Out Of Service".

It doesn't take alot of intelligence to invent the chopsticks but alot of stupidity to ask this question.

For a start, two simple sticks can be used to eat and to cook. Unlike some cultures that eats with their hands, the Chinese wont have to scald their fingers picking up hot food and as a cooking tool, they dont have to burn their fingers too.

Using two sticks requires art and common sense, forks and spoons are a great treat but you need a table too. The chopsticks are light, easy to clean and protable, we can have a meal anywhere.

It easy to pick up our food, whether its small, light, heavy or greasy like PORK.

Hope this answer your question and raise your intelligence a little.

The Chinese cut every thing bite size before it is served. using a knife and other utensils other than chopsticks at the table is Barbaric.
Westerners ate with their hands until Catherine de Medici had forks and spoons along with well fashioned "table cutlery" invented and gave them to Kings and Royal courts across Europe. The rest of us started immitating Royals. That was in the 1500's. Only 505 years ago.Still, until the 1800's people in Europe and America still ate with their greasy, unwashed hands. Some still do,Like at McDonalds.

I think forks are kind of stupid. Sporks are cool, the fork spoon combo. You can use them for most anything.

Becuase it's their culture, their culture is beautiful. Just because you can't use chop sticks does'nt mean it's not right. They can use chop sticks as good as you and I can use forks and spoons.

I think it's because their language is symbolic vs. phonetic like
most others. Because they think and speak in symbols, their brains are used to integrated thinking which allows more creativity in learning, growth and problem solving. Their brains are used to thinking in concepts vs thinking in precepts like us.

Chopsticks are not stupid - they are readily available and easy to clean. They pack easily and make a hell of a weapon in a pinch.

We have our share of genuises too. It may seem stupid to you that they eat with those little sticks, but have you tried it? It's not easy. BTW practically every society has had their share of geniuses.

I think they must be pretty intelligent to learn how to use them. I use a fork because it's easier.
