I lived in the Caymans for a couple of years, and I'm not sure if this is what you're speaking of, but it's the wall of the drop off to the Cayman Trench right off of the 7-mile beach on Grand Cayman Island. It's a beautiful drop that's best around Cemetery Beach (on the beach side, and my opinion) or you can head up to the dive shop near the reserve (I forget the name) and drop there as well. Really, it's surrounds the island at different distances from shore, so anywhere is going to be good.

Cayman is my favorite place to dive in the whole world. If you are down there, check out Captain Marvin's for the Stingray City Tour (no diving, just stingrays) and then the Sunset House for dive tours - they are by far the greatest dive operators on the island (my opinion).

Edit: "Holiday Inn... is now the northern-most luxury resort on Seven Mile Beach"???!?!!? BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

I hope you are kidding or just haven't been to Cayman in a while. There is a huge Ritz Carlton right down the street now that dwarfs everything else in scope and grandeur. It is by far the most luxurious, expensive, and incredible hotel on the whole island.

You must go visit again and check that place out: http://www.ritzcarlton.com/resorts/grand_cayman/

PS Sorry to laugh, but I've put family up at the Holiday Inn a couple of times when they've come to visit in large numbers. It's not that nice.

It is like a cliff under water. Drops straight down - almost.

Gateway To Cayman's North Wall

by Geri Murphy

It's no secret that Grand Cayman's North Wall is the most prestigious diving area on an island known for outstanding wall-diving. Add to this the fact that the North Wall is home to Stingray City and Sandbar - two of the most legendary stingray encounters in the world - and it's easy to see why divers on Grand Cayman eventually head for the North Wall.

I suspect that the owners may have had this in mind when they chose the site for the new 231-room Holiday Inn. Located on West Bay Road, this new addition is now the northern-most luxury resort on Seven Mile Beach, and the one closest to the North Wall and Stingray City. Its location is ideal for divers, as they spend less travel time getting from the hotel lobby to the dive boat.

Been there. Yes, it's technically a wall/ridge with an amazing formation of coral and sealife. You dive along the edge looking to the left to see the nature, to the right the abyss...drops down a deep slope to the point where you cannot see the bottom. Try a search on Flickr to see.
