I just take a deep breath and do it. Sometimes I think about how good I'll feel once I've accomplished something, or I'll think about all the free time I'll have left after getting something done.

Just get up and do it, don't think of anything else to distract you until you're finished.

TO DO lists work best but there is a caveat, we tend to procrastinate more the non mechanical activities with lower intellectual effort. So say your check lists has three activities. One that may be as dull as entering phone numbers into Excel. You also have to check if another list of numbers were correctly entered and finally you have study some material. Usually, you will get to the entering first because, as dull as it might be, you know it requires less effort. Then the checking and last the studying. The problem is that this order might or might not be the priority order you should have kept. So, if you put 10 items on your list and strike out all but one, you may still be slacking off what is most important.

I make checklists and to-do lists for my self. This helps keep me focused on the important things that I have to do. When I cross things off, I feel like I am accomplishing things.

Knowing where I want to go and deciding on my plan of action for getting there. Of course everything now and then I get side tracked but I think as long as you focus on what you want to accomplish nothing can really hold you back.

Writing a To Do List and being able to scratch things off once they're done makes me feel pretty good.

I'll tell you later...

It's simple and it works for me. I know when the work is done it's play time!!!

And there is no guilt because I didn't do anything.
