What makes you right or left handed?

Actually, some people that are left handed are smart and task oriented like the left side of the brain. And some right handed people are artistic and free. Up until about 30-40 years ago it was considered socially unacceptable to be left handed, and even if you started grasping items with your left hand (like a spoon) your parents would take it and put it in your right hand. I don't know if being right or left handed comes from instinct, but I think it is most likely that you learned from watching your parents pick items up and write with their hand. I am the only person in about 100 people in my family that is left handed. I am talking cousins aunts grand parents.

Left-handers are more likely to have a left-handed relative. But researchers have yet to find the gene or set of genes that pick one hand over the other.
Most scientists agree that handedness exists on a continuum. The idea helps explain why some people bowl with their left but hold a spoon in their right. Truly ambidextrous people, who have indifferent preference for either hand, are extremely rare.
The answer to left-handedness is likely in the brain, and probably has to do with that organ's asymmetry, scientists generally believe. Somewhere in our lopsided brains is something, probably a gene or two that determines which hand prefers to throw a ball and which hand likes to write.

A simple test to tell yourself whether you are left or right handed.

Put up your tumb in line covering an object and close your right or left eye. The eye that is possible to block the object will be your master eye. Of course a lot of left handed and right handed habits comes in with family teaching. (As Neon lover stated)

Handedness, or "chirality," is not fully understood. One theory suggests that most people are right handed because the left half of the brain controls speech for most people, and it would be most efficient for that side of the brain to also control writing. The hemispheres of the brain control opposite sides of the body, so the left brain would favor the right hand. Ultimately, handedness can be genetic (or natural), due to an injury to the half of the brain that would have enabled opposite chirality, or learned in young childhood.
