Hi, Moon!! :)

I am such a HUGE lover of almost all trees, so it's a bit hard to choose a favourite. However, I will have to pick the Corkscrew Willow tree.

I actually had never heard of this type of tree, until several years ago, when I bought one. When I purchased it, it looked like a little twig, lol. But, as it grew, it became so beautiful!! This type of tree has the most unusual contorted and twisted branches and twigs. It also has leaves much like the Weeping Willow, but is very different otherwise. Other names for this tree include, Tortuosa or Dragon's Claw Willow.

I now have two of these trees planted in my backyard, and truly love their unique beauty. :)

I have several favorites. I really like the purple plum. It has a pretty pink flower very full for a couple of months in Spring and then has a beautiful deep purple, maroon leaf through the summer and fall. It looses it's leaves in winter. The crape myrtle is another favorite as it is just heavy with bright pink, fuschia or white flowers from spring through fall and it has a pretty wooded multiple trunk that is deciduous through winter. A good evergreen tree is the magnolia. I love the thick almost succulent leaves and the big white flowers.

Here is in my island of Puerto Rico a tree name "Flamboyan" it flowers can be red, orange, yellow or blue, it's so beautiful and it's part of our folklore, even when this kind of tree isn't native from the island. Some reason because I like it too is because my mom use to rope up a hamaca under 2 of these trees that we had at home and use to sing me until I fell sleep and these trees also remind me the good things of my childhood and a lot of good moments with my parents.

I've been paying attention to a lot of trees lately since we have to replace a 30-year old maple that went down in a tornado, which by the way was my most favorite tree. It had the most vibrant red-orange leaves in the fall. So far these are the trees that I think are most interesting year round.

I also love the red dogwood that we have in the backyard. It's very special to us because our beloved dog Scrappy's ashes are buried beneath it.

Weeping Willow. They remind me of my childhood when we lived in Louisiana for several years (I was an Air Force brat). I had never seen such a gracious and beautiful tree before.
