Yes, you're correct. The female arm bends inwards slightly so when you let go of the bow it can catch the other side of your elbow. You need a leather brace to stop the friction.

It is true the female archers need different equipment than men as well as a different form. The bow is typically a bit shorter and has a little less tension. Also because of a woman's "boobs" it is hard for her to stand perpendicular to the target. She there fore is taught to stand a little more at a dyangle. There maybe a technical term for this but I am unaware of it.

The bow is not different, and it's not due to the shape of the women's arms. Some women put on chest protectors, or bind their breasts to reduce the "profile" so the bowstring does not hit their breast. I don't know if there is a technical term for it.

Most women use a lighter pull bow - due to the difference in arm strength.

I help with the International Horse Archery Festival and no female archer has ever used any different gear then the men. They do usually use a bow with less poundage.

They do need different equipment due to the obstruction created by breasts. Interestingly, I believe ancient female-dominated tribes in South America used to perform mastectomys on themselves (the removal of a breast) in order to better use a bow, although this may be a myth.
