No, in fact amongst new drivers girls have the highest accident rates because they don't pay total attention to their driving.

As you pose this question in the "science" category, I guess a somewhat scientific answer is in order, not just circumstantial evidence like "my girlfriend can/cannot drive well".
Although science has shown that gender differences exist for several characteristics (math and spatial abilities are among the best known), the best guess up till now is that those differences are all environment driven and not due to biology. I suppose that for some women the myth that they cannot do certain things well (be it math or driving) becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy, because it makes them uncertain.
Up till now, no dimorphisms have been found between male and female brains. Some gender differences have been found, though: a dimorphism is when there is no overlap between two groups, a difference means that although there is a difference in the *mean*, there is still considerable overlap.
To get back to your specific question, you pose it in an absolute way "do you think girls can drive", nopt "do you think most girls cannot drive", so it takes only 1 well-driving woman to falsify your hypothesis.....

Many women are great drivers...
Then there are those that are just horrible at it.
Men, however, tend to be much more aggressive drivers, and some can handle that, others cannot.
The reason that male insurance rates exceed those of females is that because of the average male's aggressivness behind the wheel we tend to get into much more serious accidents than women do. It is NOT because of a higher accident rate necessarily. Actually, the rate balances out pretty evenly between men and women. It is the seriousness that hikes insurance for guys.
Many women, to put it simply, just do not drive aggressively. However, they do tend to do alot more while driving than men. (Put on make-up, more cell phone use, etc.) This results in slow-moving accidents causing fender-benders and the like.
I do agree to some extent that women lack a certain capacity, in general, to concentrate while multi-tasking. Ladies, don't shoot the messenger, this is psychology talking not my own personal belief. Men tend to have a greater disposition towards multi-tasking and logic. However, this does not always balance out our aggresiveness.
It's just the nature of the sexes. We both have our pros and cons. Which is worse? Who's to say?

yes, i believe that SOME girls can drive cars properly... but some girls are definately too stupid. but the same goes for men.
some girls are too busy putting on makeup and whatnot to notice things around them. THOSE girls dont deserve to drive. maybe we should make it illegal to apply makeup while operating a motor vehical!
actually, when my brother and i were on our way back from a trip to canada, he pointed out something to me: when a female driver is in the left lane going slow, she'll just stay there and hold up traffic. if a MALE driver is in the left lane and someone behind him is going faster, he will move over [if theres an opening]. i didnt believe him at first, but after a while of observation, he was TOTALLY right....
so in conclusion, SOME girls can drive properly, but there are some idiots out there that can't drive. and shouldnt.

In countries that have driving tests statistics show that more females than males pass their tests first time, this suggests to me that they are much more responsible drivers. There are some very excellent female racing and rally drivers who would easily put me to shame and I'm not afraid to admit it. Just as a matter of interest, the first time that I ever went over 100mph in a car it was a female driving and my wife does most of the driving in our family and I'm quite happy with that.

It has been pointed out that, statistically, women drivers tend to fall into two categories. Very good or very bad. there are a terrific number of women who never get into accidents or cause them. A few have more than there fair share.
Men on the other hand are rarely very good or very bad drivers - most fit into the average category.
As a nurse who works in the operating theatres, I have to testify that I see far more males needing some form of reassembly following road trauma than I see women in the same state.

I'm a girl and I can drive properly. Plus the insurance companies charge more for young male drivers than young female drivers because young male drivers get into more accidents and cause more driving problems than young female drivers. Draw your own conclusions.

Honestly, many can't, but there are those girls who can. My mom does these wide a s s turns. I know too many girls who can't drive. they do stupid things like drive too slow/ fast or they are on the left lane of an highway but they're going slow. The DMV gets lazy and lets anyone have a license nowadays.

As a limo driver, I see and deal with a lot of drivers on a daily basis. And it's about a 50/50 spilt as to who's worse.
