is there a way to erase all of the operating system from my computer? OR can i delete all of the info on my hard drive? With an F key? I can not get my computer past the windows page. I TRY TO START IT IN SAFE MODE AND CAN'T.. I don't have any files i want to save. I JUST WANT TO RESTORE IT.
Someone told me to unplug the cmos reset plug in my computer but it didn't work.I tried ctrl-alt-delete but that didn't work either. Any suggestions

try using a boot disk to get you into the system or a dos prompt then from there you should be able to use the fdisk command to fix it. or fixmbr i think to fix the master boot record. by removing the battery wont do anything at all.

Boot off of you Windows CD and do a full install - also called a "fresh" install. You do not want to do an update on a damaged installation You may be able to do a "Repair" process if you are using XP Pro but this is a long winded affair. If you have no files to worry about this is your fastest method. You may run into some driver issues, but if it is a brand name pc the OE disk should work out fine. Good luck.

What brand of computer?
How old is it?
What is your operating system?
Do you have restore disks?
Do you get any error messages?

If you give a hint as to what we are working with, maybe you'll get an answer that will help.
