I know the whole team suck, but they are able to hold portugal at bay, nearly won it at extra time. What I want to know is who should shoulder the blame more than the rest of the team members? Clearly Theo Walcott had nothing to do with England losing.

The Whole team...it takes more then 1 person to win or lose a game...so to blame it on Rooney...or Ronaldo is crazy....The team lost it for them..its just like blaming Zidane for France loosing...he didn't miss the penalty kick.

i'd say lampard is the most responsible for england's exit..he was the first person chosen to take the pk..everyone was counting on him..if he got it in others might be a bit more confident to take the pk..and maybe they too can get it in..did u see the expression on gerrard's face when lampard missed it?? it was soo obvious..lampard's missed pk changed everything..
u may say i'm cruel to blame it all on lampard when he's not the only one playing on that day..but to me the game ended in a tie before the pk..it clearly shows both team were equally good till the end and it could be anyone's game that day..rooney's red card, beckham's injury nor ronaldo's divings and winking..none of them has got anything to do with england's lost..it all came down to the pks in the end..and it's where england lost it all..
we were told they practiced it over and over again..and we know lampard is a good penalty taker when he's playing for chelsea..he was the right guy to take the first pk..but he blew it..as for the other pk takers ie gerrard and carragher they were too weak to take the pks..even if lampard missed it they should've known better not to let it play with their minds..they (lampard, gerrard, carragher) should've just focussed on the job and not letting anything else got in their way..the three of them costed england the world cup but it started off with lampard..he was part of the reason why the other two missed it..
ricardo might be a good keeper especially when it comes to pks but if they were more confident with the job at hand england might have a better chance lifting the world cup this year..what a pity..

The team struggle from the start, they just didn't have it subpar performances by Lampard,Ashley Cole,Rooney,and Crouch. Portugal played at a high level from the start, on the day they met in the World Cup, Portugal was the better team.

can tell the whole team! but, i will tell Lampard coz he let go so many chances to score! he might had done better then that coz he was excellent for Chelsea! he was one of the player that the coach had the trust to deliver the goals that the team need! Stevie G and Becks did well on their side. But at the end, no use of us talking bout it now! its all over! Wish England luck for World Cup 2010!!

none of them...only sven...but in ur choice i would put rooney bcause he was too hot tempered an violent...if england had him,they could hav scraped a win...did u see how well lenon was playing???he almost dribbled past the whole team an got into the p.box an some more dribdling and then rooney spoiled it...if u saw the match u would understand...

I think it was Rooney that let the team down by getting Red-Carded, but I think it was Ricardo Perreira who played the main role in Portugal's win.

it was the whole team'z fault.. beckham, Rooney, Lampard, Gerard, Carrager, etc.. are all a team.. and Rooney did this Lampard did that,, when we are talking about teams, we cant blame it to one person because it takes 11 man to win a game and 11 man to loose a game... its not right if we would get to do that then the teams have to be named "beckham" or "Rooney", "Lampard" so and so..
