I am not trying to be a smart a ss, but if you dont know, you really have no business building a chimney. maybe some sort of wall or small project, but a SAFE chimney should be left for someone that knows what they are doing, You do plan on using fire brick for the fire box and a proper liner for the flu and know how high above any roof to draft properly??? do you know the local and state building codes?? IF something happens (a fire) and you are not up to code, your insurance company WILL deny any claim. Dont put your family at risk if this is for a house!

No offense to you but I agree with number 2 in some aspects.

An even more important Q I'd ask you however, is why not use premix. Certainly the market place offers many.
