I have seen Friends from Pilot to Finale so many times I can't even count.
And now yesterday they changed the time they show ER on TV to earlier and I can't watch it because I have to work. It seems like something is missing...
Am I an addict?

It's not like I seek treatment. It's just that I want to know if I'm doing anything wrong...

I think the reason people like certain TV shows so much is because they can identify with the characters and the people on the show start to become like people in their lives. When these people go away or one can no longer watch a TV show, it feels like something is missing, just like you are losing an old friend. I don't think you are addicted, you just really like certain shows. Now, if you are watching TV all day every day and it is interfering with other aspects of your life, you may have an addiction. But from what you have described, you sound fine. Go out and buy your favorite TV shows on DVD or something so you can watch them anytime rather than wait for them to be on TV.

TV shows are so addictive because they are a way for us to escape the daily grind. We can let our minds be free and watch other people experience life, death, heartache, tears, victory, defeat, anger, happiness, etc. We can find pieces of ourselves in characters and feel as if we are not completely alone because if someone wrote about this and put it on television then it's not unheard of. I enjoy my TV as well...and having a satellite and DVR have ruined me. I never miss an episode of my favorite shows because I just program the show in and watch it later. It's like a party! I was up until 12:30 am this morning catching up on my episodes of Psych & Saved. I might need treatment too! Smile...we're fine!

They are addictive, only if you let them. Personally, if tv goes away permanently today, it would not be of any great loss to me.
