To make a long story short, I waited for this guy to return to the Laundermat where he left his belongings and there was also money, but I am honest, so I wanted to make sure he got his stuff back, there was alot of cards in rubber bands, along with his driver's liscence, so I looked through the cards to see if I could identify this man, and I did. I kept his items until he returned to the Laundrymat, he was so thankful and I felt good, that made my day, even though I could have had a meal with his money, LOL, I would not do that to anyone. I feel honesty is the best policy. What would you have done? Please no screwed up answers, thanx in advance. Not looking for praise, either, this actually happened and I feel really good about it. This is the second time it has happened to me and I did the right thing the first time, too.

You did exactly the right thing. I think you're awesome! If only everyone would behave the way you did. Good for you.

I use to work at Wal-mart where I live. I worked in customer service and I was amazed how many people did return peoples purses they left outside in the cart.

That happened to me once I went into Target, went to the ladies room, and in the stall was a wallet. I turned it in to the customer service lady.

Glad to see there are other honest people out there. I could not feel good about keeping someones money/cards. Cuz i would not want that to happen to me.

Of course if I find 5 $ on the street I will keep that. But of course if I saw it drop out of someones pocket I would say something

Also when I worked at Walmart Some college girls @ 11:30 @ night left my register They dropped like 100 $ in bills on the ground. The next guy in line look as if he was gonna pick it up. I stopped the girls and gave them their money. They were so happy. Of course I gave the guy a bad look. lol

Exactly what you did. I believe honesty IS the best policy. And how would I have felt had the tables been turned? I would have highly appreciated it. Not praising you because you said you didn't want that but, there are very few honest individuals in this world today, and this is to be highly commended. And if a person is not very honest, then think Karma (although I don't subscribe to all the beliefs under Karma) I do believe what goes around comes around.. W2G hee couldn't help it, have a gr8 day. What you did was laudable. Thank you for reminding us of all the goodness in the world! The media only sells us the 'BAD' news!

I have always returned items to the owners, and have sometimes been blessed with the same.

The two times that the persons who found my items did not return them, and, I found out who they were, and tracked their short remaining lives, I saw that they both died gruesome deaths, accidently, one from a strange fire, started by lightning, after which he suffered for two weeks with terrible burns, the most awesome pain one can endure, as, pain meds would conflict with the anti-biotics and other meds...

The other died in a crushing accident, where he lingered on through three weeks of horrible pain and suffering in the hospital, as organs failed slowly, and excruciatingly!

I believe that all the pain they inflicted on others returned to them 7 fold. I went to them, and to their kin, and that included small beautiful, young, children, and I forgave them, but, apparently, God didn't forgive them, and He made us all witnesses to the 'rewards' for dis-honesty!

Now, I pity the fool who keeps found objects, without trying to post notice for 30 days, and, alerting the police, first! Then, unclaimed property is returned to the finder, to keep, and with a clean conscience! Also, if reported 'stolen' or 'lost', if you are found with them, or your DNA is on them, you get to sleep with Bubba, until you are convicted, and get to sleep with a different Bubba!

In Islamic countries, you lose a hand, to the sword!

You spared everyone a lot of angst, pain, and suffering, Thanks!

So, I do believe in 'Karma', now!

I would have done the same thing as you. The right thing is not always easy, but it does make you feel really good inside. I have had money stolen from me several times in the past. It is a horrible feeling when you reach for your money to pay for something and it's gone.
Your right to feel good about yourself. Not everyone would have been that honest. :)

No I would not. I just think how I would feel if I lost my credit cards, keys or purse, and that stops any thoughts of keeping someone else's stuff.

You did exactly the right thing.

As you get older and look back over your life, it is the memory of these moments that will convince you of your strength and goodness in times of difficulty.

Good on you.

Personally I probably would have took the money if it was alot and left the stuff behind.

I think you're great for returning it all though.
