I would say Tiger.
IN the water, you have absolutely no chance of surviving an all out shark attack and not to mention, sharks often travel with other sharks, even great whites often travel in 2 or 3's for a sort of tag team attack.
But on land, against a Tiger you would have a 50/50 chance of escape. If you are fast enough there may be a possibility of getting a far enough in-front that you could lead it to attack another prey. I don't know if tigers can climb trees but that may be another option. How bout finding a club to fight off the tiger.
The point is.... on land, you have a better chance but in the ocean..... unless you can run on water, you have no chance of survival.

I would say tiger. Firstly because I would be in water, and out of my depth, even though I'm a confident swimmer I certainly could not out swim a shark. Although it would probably be a quicker death than with a tiger. I would hate to be lying around half dead in a lot of pain for ages. Or feel it eating me. Urgh!
If you were attacked by a tiger though, you could possibly out-wit it, or start a fire, it worked for Mowgli!
Also on land you have rocks or branches that you could possibly defend yourself against. I also personally think that tigers are beautiful intelligent creatures (not that sharks aren't) that would back down if they thought that they would get hurt. I'm probably wrong though!
I'm trying to figure out where the psychology comes into this question?

I'd have to say a tiger, although I'm not quite sure why! I think it's the thought of being attacked AND drowning at the same time that puts me off the shark option. Also tigers are quite nice, I'd rather be a form of nourishment for them rather than a shark.

Sharks live in the water we don't so being attacked by a tiger isn't as bad because we are on the same ground. But being attacked by a tiger is bad enough just look at what happened to that performer in Vegas and they were friends.

I'd prefer the tiger, because I can't swim and in a shark attack when you bleed other sharks will come to see what's for lunch as well.
Could maybe have a better chance at fighting the tiger off by nipping it's skin or beating it over the head or something.

Neither I would drown the tiger in the water that the shark is patrolling and hopefully I would be able to flee while the shark was eating the tiger.

i would answer shark, i would however like to pick the species!
I love scuba diving, and i adore shark diving, most of these fantastic creatures are not aggressive to humans, and are very timid.
To be attacked by a shark would be horrendous, however most sharks bite to taste, as in they are trying to test if you are "food" when they realise you are not what they are used to they spit you out. You are of course a bit buggered if its a huge great white that has just thought "UUUGGH, that tastes crap".
Some of the smaller ones would give you a fair bite as well, however (hopefully) they would realise that you are not the usual food and leave you be, unlike the Tiger who would kill you as soon as it possibly could to avoid injury (from you) to itself.
So can i please choose the Leopard shark, its a bottom feeding shark with "teeth" designed for crunching small crabs etc, could give you a nasty suck! Or the HUGE whale shark, a really nasty plankton eater, now that would give you a real gumming, or maybe the basking shark...............................

mmmmmmmmm, a tiger as you could see that coming where a shark could ambush you from below. but then again a tiger plays with its food so it would hurt and it would depend on what shark it is; if its a great white you don't really stand much chance- off goes your leg then he'll come back with his muckers as the smell of blood would excite them, but then apparently sharks bite you as you look like their food then they spit you out where as a tiger i think would maul you and pound you. SCARY stuff. I would rather get attacked by a giraffe!

Tiger as at least you have a chance of running away, as with swimming you travel slower than if you are running. Also you have more time to kill the tiger as in water there is the chance of you suffocating if held underwater.
Other questions could be:
What would win in a fight to the death
1. A Grizzly Bear
2. A Silverback Gorilla
and
what is the largest animal you could beat up?
For the second question the best answer i have heard is a mannimal

Seeing that the question leaves the breed of shark a moot point, I will say shark.
After all, it it is one of the smaller varieties that only eat small fish I would have a good chance of surviving; whereas any type of tiger would rip me to shreds.
