I have to write a critique about whether or not iron supplements are beneficial during pregnancy as your body naturally ‘hides’ or stores the iron in the liver so that bacteria can’t use it if you get an infection. Does anyone have any websites I can go to to find information I can use for my argument and also information saying the opposite, that you need iron supplements during pregnancy? I also need information on the use of paracetamol to relieve a fever as a fever supposedly helps you fight an infection.

Also I need information on the benefits and detriments of chronic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis and whether the risk to the child is worth it.
Any good websites would be great as well as an experts opinion if they read it.

P.S. It's due tomorrow.

you definitely need iron in your diet while you are pregnant. if you dont take (speaking from experience) you run the risk of being anemic, and during child birth your body can go into shock because you lose a lot of blood and you could possibly die. I would check out kaiserpermanente.com, What to Expect When You're Expecting

I can tell you from experience during my pregnancy that YES, I believe them to be beneficial, IF the patitient has been diagnosed as annemic prior to the pregnancy.

I was iron annemic so my dr. prescribed iron pills many many years before I ever became pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant, I had been taking the pill. My dr. did a hemoglobin to check how much iron is in the blood. This is a normal test during certain stages of pregnancy and only requires a small figer prick and drop of blood.

He took me off the iron pills, only to put me back on them at the next visit. I had symptoms with my anemia which included weak spells as well as shortness of breath. Those are merely two of the symptoms of anemia.

go to the nearest OB doctors office and try to talk with a doctor/nurse/receptionist and pick up pamphlets they have for free.
