Besides being constipated I think I am water retained. I am traveling in forty eight hours and I have school in three days. My belly is just blown up like a balloon and hard and I am in pain. What can I eat, drink, or do that will relieve me? I heard artichoches, which I have been eating, and i already have a high fibre diet. This usually happens to me when I am stressed, but not this bad where I can no fit into anything and my tops look hidious. Plus, I am in boarding school, so I need to figure out how to handle this if it happens again. A timly reply would be so appreciated. Thanks.

Try taking a laxative. It might help.

Like everyone else said, a laxative would work and relive your problem. But most laxatives cause cramping, and if you're driving a lot you may not make it to the bath room on time.

Also, be careful that you don't go too much at once. You could mess up your electrolites which could be dangerous!

I suggest drinking a lot of water and try a gentle laxative.

If you still don't go in a few days, you should see a doctor, you could have a blockage.

Sad.. your condition is very painful indeed. Try taking Physillium husk, buddy. Take 1 heapful tablespoon with either warm milk or warm water before bed. It should help. It's a natural thing, has absolutely no side effects and is tried and tested by millions. Go to the local health food store. You should be able to find a few type of fiber pills to help you get through this. Generally a health food store will have knowledgeable staff for them to help direct you to the right product.

If you can go to a pharmacy and buy some laxitives, they will work. If not eat and drink loads and loads of fresh fruit and juices makes sure they are fresh and not processed. Also if you can stomach it, prune juice will have you on the toilet before you can say poo!!!

When this happens to me, I take a laxative made for women.
It causes less cramping & by morning your body is ready to allow everything be relieced.
Good Luck.
