We're accused of EVERYTHING, from the last Ice Age to faking the 9/11 attack. Dont take it serious, its just the conspiracy nuts with too much time on their hands while waiting for the short bus.

It is intervention in the affairs of another state. It is basically a similar manoeuvre to what they are doing in Iraq, only in reverse. There they wish to encourage a democracy in the hope that the aspirations of the peoples in surrounding countries will encourage a change of government. In Venezuela it's the opposite they don't want a popular socialist government, that is pro-Cuba having a political effect on the rest of South America.

Earlier this year a right wing christian (I forget his name) called for the assassination of Chavez. He supports Bush.
The situation of Venezuela is unique in South America, apart from Bolivia which expericenced revolution last year. Venezuela has massive oil reserves (in the top ten of the world) and Chavez has infuriated the neo-liberals by nationalising the water system. Much more can be done but it's a damn sight better than my country!

The U. S. tries to destabilise any state that doesn't agree with its policies ... ask Grenada, Nicaragua, Iraq, Cuba, etc. etc.
