A buddy of mine is addicted to porn. Psychologically what could he be missing or what could he be using porn to fulfill or block out. This is a serious issue and needs proper attention. Thanks

People addicted to porn aren't missing anything. There are men out there with wives, and relationships that are completely fulfilling, yet they are addicted to porn. It's the same as any other addiction. It can cause problems though, and it isn't healthy. It can lead to distorted views and expectations. He should get some help in overcoming his addiction.

People who are addicted to smoking cigarettes, watching tv, etc don't necessarily miss something. It's just that they got addicted (often because of curiosity at first), developed a habit and can't stop easily even if they tried.
It's similar with many addictions. I know people who are addicted to porn and yet have strong and loving relationships. People just do some things because they get pleasure of some kind and/or because they are in the habit of doing these things and not necessarily because they need to block out or fulfill whatever.

Could go back to how he was raised. I agree porn can be very damaging if it's a constant fixture in his life. But, like any addiction;you can talk to him until your blue in the face and he still might not want to change. I hope things get better!

I like porn too. I don't think I have anything missing. I'm getting married next week but my fiancee only likes "fat" porn. It's terrible when we get our porn mixed up.

I would reccomend a psychologist in your area who specializes in this form of addiction. There's probably something he's trying to submerge in his psyche.

Probably lack of attention from a woman.

If he is getting what he needs he won't need to get from where he is.
