We went on holiday this year to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah (Malaysian Borneo).
The city itself isn't westernised in the slightest (DON'T use the public toilets!!) but then again that's why we went to Asia.
The hotel we stayed in, Sutera Harbour, was an amazing 5 star complex which was a quarter of the price of a similar Caribbean property.
But the best part was the ferry service over to the tiny islands about 10 minutes away from the hotel.
We were two of a maximum of 6 people who were on the entire island. It was like the last place on earth that was untouched and we were the only ones there. This was a daily occurance and it made us feel so special. I still get shivers thinking about it.
We also snorkelled and found the most amazing fish, literally thousands of them.
I wish I was back there.
I shouldn't have really told you about this as I don't want anyone else to know about it.

3/4 of the way between Fylingdales and Robin Hoods Bay on the north yorkshire moors. There is a small pile of rocks, on which once stood a stunted tree. At the end of summer one year, at sunset, I reached the treestump alone after hiking across the moors, the sun was setting, and the heather was a riot of violet and dark green, the sky was pink purple and orange. I was the only person in sight. Completely alone in this stunning painting of life.
Tied to the treestump was a brown envelope in a plastic bag. wierd I thought. I turned it over. On the other side was written:
"It's beautiful here, Isn't it?"

I loved Cusco and Machu Pichu. Big Island and Kauai Hawaii are amazing. ...The Tahitian Islands are beautiful and the people great....Tobago Cays in the Caribean is one of the most beautiful waters, Belize is incredible with the Mayan ruins,Easter Island is amazing, I loved Valpraiso, Chile, San Blas and Panama are great but I would have to say Bonaire is probably my favorite at the time. I knew there I was totally and truly in love. Although it ended in a truly broken heart, especially when he was killed I will always remember Bonaire.

My own back yard. It's lovely, soft green grass that is like a plush carpet, a large deck with a crystal clean pool, fire pit, many song birds, hummingbirds and a resident bat. I can see the stars at night as we have no light pollution. I can read, garden, play with my dog in a beautiful spot and I DON'T have to go through the hassles of security, flight delays, traffic to get there, I open up my french doors and I'm there. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
