My condo assoc. had an exterminator come out and get rid of the nest that was near the window, and they also said they would have someone check and caulk around the windows where the bees are getting in...but that didn't seem to work because I am still getting 2-4 bees in my house per day. Any suggestions? Should I have a window company come out and pull out the windows and insulate and seal them back up? HELP!!!

I doubt you are getting random bees through window areas EVERY day. Chances are pretty good you have a nest somewhere like the attic, rafters or between the studs in an exterior wall. You need to do some investigating and try to find the source. If they are in an exterior wall you will need to get a GOOD exterminator out to take care of them. If they are in your attic or rafters have them removed and to prevent them from returning, or from other species such as wasps etcetera from taking up residence you can use an old trick that has standed the test of time. In your attic, or rafters place or hang open containers of moth balls. No kidding, it really works!

If the pest control company only came out and exterminated the bees, then other bees would just come back again.

The whole hive, wax and honeycomb, must be removed for total effectiveness. If you kill the bees but leave the wax and comb, not only could other bees become attracted to it but it could also melt. If it melts it could mold, spread and also attract rats.

Not many companies actually remove the hive itself as it is pretty messy and hard work. Also alot of prop. mgmt companies and HOA's don't want to pay for a total removal as it is expensive. What they don't realize is that by only doing a kill they are potentially creating a far greater problem then they ever started out with.

If the bees are getting in to your condo again, the hive may have been reestablished or it could have been so extensive and not all of it killed in the first place. Call the condo assoc. again and have them get the exterminator out again.

Good Luck.

Try getting some kind of plastic that heats up with a hair dryer and cover all the windows. I forget what the name of the stuff is but people who live where it is real cold, seal their windows in the winter to keep out the cold drafts with this window sealer.

Wait for a day or so and then remove the plastic from one window, and see if you are still bee free. the next day or two take another one off...and try the same. When you start having bees in the house again, you can assume that the window you just took it off is the problem window. There may be another nest around. If you have sealed off all the windows, and you still have bees..........then they are coming in thru something else...maybe the air conditioning vents......or if you have a fireplace, they may be coming down the shute.

They are sneaky little critters...maybe they are coming in from your door when you open it... If you find an opening where they are coming in, spray it with vinegar. The ones we have here seem to hate the odor, so we spray the porch ever so often, and it keeps them away.

The other thing is that there may be a nest in your walls....My grandmother had one in hers...they got in thru the attic and made a nest in the walls of her bedroom....she kept thinking she had that problem with her ears...I forget the name of it....the one where you keep hearing a buzzing or ringing in your ears......

good luck with the bees....I hope you get rid of them.

If you are getting as many bees as you say, then why not take an hour to sit down outside the house to observe where the bees are coming in. Or, sit inside and see where the bees are coming in. Bees can't come in and then not leave. They have to return to the outside to get stuff to bring back in. With bees flying in and out, you should be able to narrow their entrance / exit path. Otherwise, get those high pitched pest sounders. It is a small, high pitched sounder that you plug into an outlet near the windows. Once they get near the window and hear the high pitche squeeling, they will turn and fly away.

this time of the year is when bees are most active - so expect more then usual. Bees nest in rafters, in the ground, almost anywhere. That being said, you might have a nest inside the house, behind your drywall. If you seal the entrance/exit on the outside, they will usually chew through it and make a new opening!

You best bet is to hire your own competent exterminator and have them thoroughly inspect your house, inside and out and have them spray heavily.

WHAT KIND OF BEES WERE THEY Honey bees if so how long were they there because if they did get between the wall they will have honey in the walls and that is what the bees are coming around for. if so you will have to have some come out and get the nest out.

If Bee's or any other insect is getting into your home via the Window, you have some pretty crappy construction- -The Condo Association should be responsible for Exterior repairs.

They sell these things you can put over your head and face to prevent bee stings. Just get a big one for your whole house. Also smoke prevents bees from stinging so burn your house slowly.
