She may do one on Cain and Abel. This book is about Adam and Eve. How many countries - or communities, schools, etc - ban her book for putting her spin on these classic stories? Maybe this is like Plato who put his own spin on (non-writer?) Socrates. Any paralels to Aniken Skywalker becoming Darth Vader in Star Wars?

Isn't Satan described as a "fallen angel" in the Bible ?
I suppose we will have to wait until the book comes out. Sounds like another Philosoper who has her own opinion.

That's the thing about Philosophy-it's one person's opinion, so it is never really right or wrong.

Well, Plato was Socrates's student. Laura Lipari is most probably not Adam or Eve' students, being late for a few thousand years. And many parts of Star Wars are indeed based off the concept of God, such as the Force being the power of prayer, Anakin being the savior, etc.

In the bible Lucifer was described as the most beautiful angel of all thus he was called the light bringer(bearer). Just because he went bad do you think that he became any less beautiful. The whole horns and bat wings scenario was created by man to scare man. I think that if you want to write about how beautiful he was that should be up to you. By the way i am all about God but the truth must be told.

The descriptions of Satan or Shatan are of him as being very beautiful. He was over all of God's angels before his downfall. Even after his downfall he is considered to be beautiful and pleasing to the eye. That is part of his deception.

The horns and pitchfork were symbols given to Satan mainly by the Catholic church to associate evil and satan with other gods that people worshipped at the time. The horns on the head come from the god of fertility. Thus you have the cornucopia and people use the word "horny" when they refer to sex. The pitchfork comes from the Greek god Poseidon. By associating the symbols of other gods that the people worshipped with evil the church was trying to turn people away from their pagan religions to Christianity.

Symbolism can still be seen in the Catholic church. Ever wonder about the halos in the paintings over the head of every early saint? The halo is a symbol for the sun. Christianity was originally combined with the worshippers of the sun god via Constantine and that sun symbolism still exists today.

You can even find these names and symbolism used all over today. Lillith on Frasier is referred to as "That She-Devil". For every Sumerian god there was a goddess partner. Her name is the name of the goddess partner to Shatan or Satan.

No country will. Laura is not even a known author outside English speaking coutries. Besides Lucifer is only a peripheral character in the Bible and not worth the controversy.

Not sure how accurate anyone can be on how many countries will ban it. I suppose any that have shown a tendency to do so in the past.

But the second questions is yes. Recycled material is often the best. I When you can make those connections it can form a strong bond.

All of the apocrypha I have read over the years has described Lucifer as the brithest and most beautiful of all the angels, it is his cunning wickedness and and bitterness toward God that makes him "ugly" in the eyes of humanity. If you think about it, Lucifer would have to hold a great amount of appeal to become one of the biblical world's greatest temptors toward sin. If he was ugly and repulsive, it would be easy to resist the temptation to sin.

Actually, in the book of Josephus, book of antiquities, it said that Lucifer was the most beautiful of the angels and God made him that way. Until, Lucifer decided that he wanted to be God and was thrown out of heaven with other angels who wanted to follow Lucifer. This is where we get the demons from.

I don't see the latter happening. :)

There are no such things as fallen angels. angels can't do bad or be bad. they do the bidding of God and therefore have no freewill. it's an oxymoron or contradiction in terms.

Lucifer is an angel and therefore cannot be satan. The meaning of Lucifer is too good to be associated with satan who is a separate entity anyway.

However, everything is interpreted differently by each individual.
