As soon as you finish the picture it is automatically copyrighted - it is not possible to register it anywhere. It is copyrighted even if you don't put the famous C in circle mark on it - although this reinforces your rights.

In the case that someone copies the style or content it's very hard in court to prove that you did it first. To overcome this, put all the pictures in an envelope and send to yourself recorded delivery. Do not open it. If it comes to the crunch the unopened envelope with registered date is your proof that you were the original artist.

There is no registration for copyrights. You simply need to mark the image as being copyright, ie "copyright Joe Bloggs 2006".

As soon as you click the button on your camera, that picture has your copyright. You don't need to do anything, but I would suggest keeping your own dated records like the other people have said...

Do as Graham I says, but put one in an envelope addressed to yourself and post it.
Don't be a dweeb and open it when it comes, just keep it as proof of when you created the copyright image, so anyone copying it will struggle to prove they did not follow you!

Costs nothing, just write, copyright of........ on the picture and date it. Anyone uses it, and you can find out who they are then they have infringed your copyright. answer; copyright mikeinSpain.

peter is correct, just put the material in an envelope, seal it, and mail it to yourself. don't open it. when you use material anywhere, use the copyright symbol. that will tell others it is your original stuff and deter them from using it.
other methods are more tedious and expensive, but this should suffice too.
