I run a coffee shop, i sell only filter coffee powder, i want new customers to come and buy my coffee. what can i do to increase the number of customers without spending much money.
Some cool and interesting ideas requested.

word of mouth. start a frequent buyer program, ya know punch cards buy 5 and the 6th one is free. or pass out cards to your regular customers and tell them to sign their name on the back of the card and give it to a friend for a free cup of jo', when the cards come in post them on a board so when the giver of the card comes back in he or she can claim their free cup of java.

i don't think you should ive away free samples - i always find that i want to sit drink my coffee and leave - and it doesnt bother me whether or not it tastes great... giving away samples is costly - time consuming - and im not sure that it would work
however if ou targetted a certain roup of people such as businesses as mentioned before with coffee samples or if you were to make good links with loca businesses you could ive them discounted menus eg - an 'exclusive discount menu' then they would probably take you up on your offer.
there used to be a cafe next to where i worked in an office. they ave us a menu and we could ring them up and some one would brin us coffees - may mean employin an extra employee as a runner but printin of menus is hardly anything

My kitchen. I don't like coffee shops. I like just plain coffee and the houses and shops make it strong so you can taste coffee with flavors added. (The local favorite in my small city is Courthouse Coffee, 2 locations because it's so popular with adults and teens.) They serve some nice pinini type sandwiches and some soups. People go there for the coffee!

Give away small free samples. If people like it they will come back for more. If you sell the same coffee in your coffee shop, let people know that is how the coffee is made.

Well a simple smart solution, Arrange a nice looking table, place it on the out side of your shop, ask a good looking girl to sit and enjoy your coffee and suggest it to other people.

If you are near offices you could stop by with flyers having daily specials. Flavors of the day. Buy a coffee get half off on a bun etc.
