Mine is also 10 months and he has been VERY mobile for months, climbing and standing in his crib. I do have a bumper in his crib but if he stands a lot and you are worried about him getting out then get a crib tent for his crib. You can get one on Ebay. I have one and I love it. A patient of mine suggested it and it may be one of the best purchases I have made for him, if not for the peace of mind alone. It looks like a mesh dome which connects to the top of the crib. Again it is called Crib Tent and they also have a Crib Tent II which has a mesh part that extends down so that they don't get their legs caught in the bars. I don't like that one because mine needs the bumper and you can't use the bumper with that one. If you go to Ebay or Google you can find one. I think they also have them at www.onestepahead.com. Check it out and good luck. Don't worry!

I find that mine do this for a number of reasons
1) teething
2) growth spurts
3) discomfort - but if he's not waking up, then he doesn't sound too uncomfortable
4) change of seasons
Right now, while it's starting to cool down a bit at night, both my kids (2 and 4) are waking more frequently, squiggling like crazy and often end up sideways on the bed. They kick off the covers, get cold, squiggle, pull the covers back up... They're also sleeping more, sleeping less, sleeping deeply, sleeping lightly - it's just all crazy right now. I'm quite sure it has to do with the seasons changing - experience tells me that they'll settle down soon. This could very well be what it is with your little guy too.
Primarily, if he's not waking and doesn't seem hurt, don't worry about it too much.

If he is in a crib the padding is not a prob. A besides always put pillows on the floor around his bed. Seems he is dreaming. Bad dreams could be but not be worried just pillow the floor and pad the crib thing. If he steps on the pad it squishes flat anyways so not much leverage and that is alot of upper body strength for a baby in a crib

I'm not a parent, but i used to do this myself. He could just be very tired or having a bad dream. Sometimes your body lies in that subconcious state between awareness and sleep, and as a result your body may have sudden, uncontrollable jerks. Is what's happening to your son hurting him? Does he have bruises where he banged his head? If so you might want to check with a docter about this problem. I know this next part may sound odd, but one of my friends has ear problems and he used to do the same thing. So if you can, check his ears or eustachion (sorry for the spelling) tube. But to be honest, i think your boy will be okay.
I hope this has helped.

Dont be too worried about it. My little boy did exactly the same. Have you checked all the obvious like is he too hot? I would be a wee bit worried about cot padded sides for safety issues. He should grow out of it. Good luck

Leave him be. My son is 6 months and often I find him in the most ridiculous positions in the morning from where I tucked him in the night before. Often I can hear him playing at night in his cot but never cries and just goes back to sleep.

Don't worry! Babies move around so much at that age. Both mine did! I'd find them side ways, upside down, etc. It was hilarious. Plus everything sounds louder on the monitor than it really is. The padding is not a great idea. That's what I've heard, anyway.

He's fine. If it doesn't wake him up, I wouldn't worry about it. My son is 9 and often wakes up sleeping sideways at the bottom of the bed. When he was a baby, we never knew how we'd find him sleeping in the morning.

i wouldnt be worried atall. its completly natural. we all move alot in our sleep and now he has the ability aswell. you could test run a bumper around the top of his cot if u are concerned but it doesnt seem to be a problem to him if he doesnt wake up. but really dont worry all kids do the same once they get more able.
