i have the chemical equation for the reaction between hydrochloric acid and marble chips, but i don't know what the word equation is for it. I have managed to work out some, but i really do need help!
this is the chemical equation (the numbers should be smaller, but i couldn't do that on my keyboard!)
CaCO3(s) + 2HCL(aq) = CaCl2(aq) + H2O(l) + CO2(g)

Not sure what you mean?

You have written down the equation for adding hydrochloric acid and calcium carbonate to form calcium chloride, water and carbon dioxide.

The hydrochloric acid is HCl rather then HCL ie hydrogen and chlorine. The calcium and chlorine combine to form Calcium Chloride, water is formed and CO2 is released. This whole process would be termed an acid-base reaction.

I am not sure what you are asking for exactly but I think it is calcium carbonate in solid form plus 2 moles of hydrochloric acid reacts to form calcium chloride + water + carbon dioxide gas.

Sis, do you mean...

Calcium Carbonate + Hydrocloric acid = Calcium Chloride + Water + Carbon Dioxide

?

This is known as the acid - carbonate reaction apparently.

1 mole Calcium Carbonate (solid) plus 2 moles Hydrochloric Acid (aqueous) yields 1 mole Calcium Chloride (aqueous), 1 mole Water (liquid), and 1 mole Carbon Dioxide (gas)

The Calcium Chloride will be hydrated (CaCl2(*6H2O))

What help? Chemical equations are like math equations. You are adjusting the components to gain equivalency which is what you have written.
