Ouch you poor thing, I know how painful and frustrating that can be and you have my sympathy.

Basically sciatica is a trapped nerve which sends shooting pains down your back and usually down either one or both of your legs There is no definate reason as to why you are suffering with it because it can be caused by a number of reasons. even sleeping awkward could trap that nerve
Anti-inflammatory drugs do help but won't cure the problem.

Your best bet would be for you to pop along and see your doctor who should be able to refer you to a 'back doctor'. They will usually manipulate your back and pop the nerve back in whilst giving you advice on how to avoid another bout of sciatica.
Unfortunately it will never cure the problem. You may go for years without another attack and then ouch, it happens again.

In the meantime, try to sit on a hard backed chair keeping your back against it and try not to tense your muscles. It is harder said than done I know but the more you relax the more comfortable it will be. Try not to sit still in one place for long, slow definate movements will help a great deal. Don't bend at the waist because this will hurt like a bugger, but keep your back straight and bend at the knees....... at all times!!
Keep taking the painkillers because they will help a little but don't over do them.

I wish you lots of luck and again you have my sympathy x

I've had it twice. Once I couldn't walk for weeks. Chiroprators helped me to get better. Since then (15 years ago), I have used a stretching exercise (basically a way to stretch my spine) that does away with the crimps and cramps in the vertebrae that used to cause my problem. No repetition for many years. Hope it stays that way. Forget medicines, they merely mask the pain and problem. Forget the Western preference for cut-em-open-and-sew-them-up approach to phyisical problems, and use exercises.
