Some chickens can fly for a short distance. How ever domestic turkeys cant fly. Saw a special on a episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. The HORROR THE HORROR

Chickens can typically fly about three or four feet in the air even higher when frightened, however; if you own one be forewarned, they occasionally fly onto rooftops and trees and discover that they cannot fly down again and must be rescued.

OK Roy, be serious.Maybe some of the old fashioned game cocks and bantams can make it over the chicken wire. A few thousand years of domestication has led to the chicken been virtually flightless, "un-natural selection" if you like.The chicken has little need for its wings, the domestic fowl has been bred more for meat and eggs so the flight muscles have become diminished at the expense of a broader body frame.If one falls from the hen house roof, it can flap its wings to break its fall.

I've never seen a chicken fly, but I have seen a horsefly.

yes they can fly i seen them flying over a chicken fence before ..u have to clip their wings if u dont want them to fly....

More or less, depending on their race. Most breeds are too heavy to fly any distance, but they all can fly.

Yes. Especially when it is in shock. But it does not fly as high as a bird. I've seen it.
