I just planted one that had self seeded. Give it plenty of water and feed, put it against a south facing fence or wall if possible. Mulch the roots and cover with old bricks or tiles to protect against frost over winter as the root system won't be very deep.

If you are planting in a zone where the passion flower will survive the winter, you may plant now. Spring is probably better.

I planted mine in late August last year (the weather was horrible) on a north facing wall. It has survived and is growing rampant. However, it did not produce any flowers this summer.

I think you'll be okay as long as you protect it from any early frosts.

Good luck.

i am going to try two of them against a west facing wall in Glasgow, i have them outdoor in pots just now so it wont be a shock to them. it is a very sheltered bit of the garden but i shall cover the roots in case of frost and maybe put some horticultural fleece round them

If you live in UK I would pot it and leave it in a green house or somewhere out of frost during the winter because it might get killed. Plant it out in spring.
