Well, it's not that pluto's not a planet. it is considered as dwarf planet along with cheras and xena (or ub313).

I think any spacial body that has its own satellite must be defined as a planet. Pluto has a moon therefore it is a planet! Leave it to gwb to change even the number of planets in our solar system!

Yes if it failed the standard requirement to be called as "Planet" but somehow it will make a BIG confusion to the public especially to students. Imagine, for so many years we've been memorizing the names and infos of the 9 planets then suddenly, we have to change everything because of our astronomer's latest discovery... it will create a huge "makeover" to our science books. Though, we can't blame them.
At least, we know that not all celestial bodies that surrounds the earth are perfectly discovered.
