Everyone is dressing so casual, so sloppy. Why?

I understand your sentiments. But, I see this habitual disdain for dressing nice in so many situations. I rarely wear a suit to church but I always wear my best pants and shirt. And, I see women coming to church wearing clothes that I wouldn't donate to Goodwill.

I do, but hose is expensive, one must be careful not to snag it, and it can be uncomfortable. I guess that people are more casual these days because they are shifting away from nuclear families and with all the single parents and new step parents, people aren't being taught to dress properly. They work more and spend less time with their kids, who need to be taught what is important.

Those are two different questions. Fewer ladies are wearing hose because they are comfortable with their legs and ankles. They also don't want to wear constricting artificial fabric on their legs.

People who dress casually and look sloppy would probably look sloppy in more formal wear, too. Some people can pull it off, and some people can't.

Why don't we wear "hose"? Pantyhose? Stockings? Nylons?
It's summer. It's hot. Legs are tan and smooth and women want them to look natural.
I think that women wear them more in the cooler weather and in the cooler climates. Women in the warmer states probably don't wear them as much. I'm not sure, because I don't live there.
When it's hot, they aren't the most comfortable things to wear.
I do hate to see professional women without them. I think it looks too sloppy. I've seen a lot of it on tv on talk shows and news shows (Katie Curic looks like crap when she's interviewing someone!).
Bottom line: women don't wear them anymore because they don't have to. There are no hard and fast fashion rules anymore.

I personally never wore them. I find them extremely uncomfortable, but I don't feel I ever looked sloppy. I don't think the hose actually makes you more dressy. You can be dressed up with or without them. It just depends on what outfit you are picking to wear. When I see someone I think looks sloppy, I don't think I would think any different if they had hose on. It's just the outfit they picked that's sloppy.

You wear them for a day and see how you feel. They never fit properly and bunch in the wrong places. Try wearing them on a hot, sticky day. Clean shaven, moisturized legs should be sufficient to wear with skirts, dresses. They even have self tanning lotions if you want the look of pantyhose. To this day, I firmly believe that MEN created pantyhose for the sheer torture of women!
