Yep...I always wonder how many fall for that. Nothing is free!

Because certain laws give advertisers the right to lie like that. They just know that people will respond to the ad more quickly and at least take a look if the word FREE appears in the ad.I hate advertisers. And if it's something free with their name on it they can use it as a tax write off to offset the cost of whatever they're giving away and they include that cost in whatever it is that they're selling.Win,win for them.

It's usually a promotional/sale technique. Often times it can be beneficial to the purchaser if they needed the item costs and receives a free gift to go along with it. For example, my husband purchases fragrances for me occasionally. And at the time I needed a purse. When he bought me Cool Water perfume, a free purse came along with the purchase. That saved me money, my husband was going to buy the perfume anyway, and I got my purse for free! And it is gorgeous, pretty sweet deal!

Its something free on the purchase of something else. Like pen free on the purchase of a book.

Of course it's not free, i just makes you feel like your getting a deal, like when you buy something and the bottle says 25% more free, it's just an advertising gimmick.

I disagree. It's more like getting something for free but overpaying the item you need to buy first in order to get the other for free!Though sometimes you can find great deals.

Let's call it "marketing."

But there's really no such things as "free lunch" in the business lingo.

Everything comes with a hook.
