A rose by any other name is still a rose, so Earth by any other classification is still our home (for the time being, at any rate), and frankly I don't think Pluto gives a rat's *ss how humans classify it. Classification is not "law" or reality (ontology), it is merely a convenient way to help us find our way around the solar system. The current re-classification is merely that--a re-classification that at some later point in time could be re-re-classified. So, no we don't HAVE TO move again, but given the state of the planet, er, whatever the heck it is, we may soon WISH to move again. Any suggestions? Surely not Mars, as it too would not be a planet (if Earth were re-classified). How about just moving to a Lagrange Point? Or, move to Pluto?

Move AGAIN? We did not move here from another planet, and Earth was not considered a planet before Copernicus.

what difference is it going to make. They are all meaningless.

Earlier all of the continent was one, now it is 7 , and in the future more changes may take place, this is understood.

But not about planet.

Ha Ha very funny! but an interest thought. I know people who would be very panicky right now if your question was raised in their company. They would be looking skywards for their home-planet's ships and be waiting anxiously for their return to whatever homeworld they represent.

I know you're just trying to be funny, but as someone who spent his career arguing that Pluto was a planet, well, my career is ruined.

Unlikely. But just in case, we should invite Pluto out for drinks and pick its embittered brain.
