Mathematics is built up from simple to complex using pure logic. It is a language unto itself that people around the globe can agree upon and use in their daily life with little risk. It is difficult for many students to know how complicated the math they will need in their careers will be; therefore a sound foundation in the basics (including theorems) serves all possibilities. Many theorems represent a concise summary of what someone else spent a lifetime to learn. We should be grateful that we are not forced to follow their entire trail to discovery. We possess the "diamond" never having to toil in the diamond mine. In your daily life it may be wiser to be able to do the math or follow someone else's math than to be a the mercy of someone else who knows as little math as you do; if you don't study. For example, knowing Pythagoras's theorem re' right angles, you can form a rope into segments of 3, 4 and 5 feet to form a triangle and make your own square corner (right?) just like the ancient Egyptians.

It is not the theorems themselves that will help you later in life but the education that you receive.
When you learn about a theorem you learn about it's derivation and proof. This shows you that with a few simple facts and a good bit of deductive reasoning you can come to a conclusion and develop a new theorem.
You will then be asked to use the theorem to prove something else or to come to some other conclusion. This allows you to use and practice your deductive reasoning skills. It is these skills that will serve you well for the rest of your life no matter what you do.
