Ronaldo is only a hit with little girls, but Becks is more popular (though Ron is a better player)! Even my friend's grandma likes him! So the answer is obvious:no! Besides all the players which will become popular not only for their game will be compared with Beckham as he was the first football player to become a pop idol (if not to speak about G. Best)! And by the way, how can you call Ronaldo a sex icon? He's got spots all over his face! Yuk!

I can't think of any other star footballer (even Brazilian Ronaldo) with the kind of brand power, global marketability and commercial value as Becks. There is no one in the footballing world right now with this kind of stature. Whoever is next must be English because the language (media) rules the world. Any other nationality just don't have the pull.

Christiano Ronaldo does not have the power and leverage of great Britain behind him, a bonus that Beckham generously enjoyed. You might as well ask if Jose Mauringho of Chelsea will ever become a more popular manager than Sir Fergusson of Man Utd. despite his great track record.

Maybe, but his English is not so good. He needs to handle those interviews better if he really want to take the road that Becks took. I think he lack the charisma and class, but an image consultant can take care of that. But looking at his selection for ad campaigns and commercials, I doubt that he can be as iconic as beckham. Look at his selection, an energy drink in Indonesia, Suzuki Swift, pepe jeans. He is attaching himself to a not so classy products here. Also the rape charge although not proven might dent his image.
A lot of PR work indeed, I'll say just stick to football.

Becks is a icon all over the world and still there are some mad females who go crazy for him! C.Ronaldo is a newbie for the business and just coming up! And the talk now is he is gay! Becks was England's captain for years and had lead them at World Cup and had super wife in Posh! Ronaldo have alot to go thru yet in his career and life! He should have a scandal first of all i think!!

Beckham could have been better had he stayed at Old Trafford. C Ronaldo certainly is a good player and definitely has the ability to perform much better than Beckham. Though he's not as cool and sexy as Beckham is.

Hell no! There can only ever be one David Beckham. Becks' career is far from over. His popularity is still growing to this day. To this day there isn't a single player that can command the market the way David Beckham can. C. Ronaldo is pretty, it's obvious but he is in no way as goodlooking as David Beckham.

i don't think so coz you can compare Becks to C.Ronaldo. I mean they are both good looking and all but they have different styles of play and the both have different charisma and all.
Becks is more of the model type character while C. Ronaldo is more of the annoying pretty boy

I don't think much of Ronaldo, he is a slime ball after watching him in the world cup I'm glad his team lost for the dirty tricks he did, you can't compare Becks to him, becks will out shine him any day, no body likes him Man United that says a lot to me
