That was The Adventure Game. Whacky thing with celebrities apparently hijacked by aliens and having to solve puzzles to get home. the final test was The Vortex, where they had to keep moving from square to square, and if they got caught by the Aspidistra, they were sent away to essentially "hitchhike" home.

Yes, it was called The Adventure Game.
I remember Derek Griffiths and Noel Edmonds seemed to be on it all the time. When someone lost they had to stand out in space to wait for a passing train.
There was also a guy who spoke backwards on it saying 'doogyrev' all the time. The plastic tokens were called 'draghma' I think.

It was the Adventure Game..... Wow what a blast from the past, used to love watching that and the plastic tokens were money, the more sides the more value, if I remember rightly

It was definitely 'The Adventure Game'.
They should bring it back - I, for one, would pay good money to see a whole load of 'celebs' geat sucked into the vortex. If only it were real....
