Somewhere in the bible it mentions a star called wormwood, I'm not sure though!!! But it says something about destroying a third of the earth.

It probably could happen. It would take an awful big asteroid to destroy the earth. The planet has been hit before and is still here. One hit somewhere in a remote area of Russia sometime in the 50's, or at least that's what I remember reading. An asteroid strike could wipe us out, but not destroy the planet.

No, Earth will never be destroyed by an asteroid. Even if a big asteroid hit, it would not destroy Earth. A large asteroid impact would make a big crater, and if it hit a city there would be great loss of life, but Earth itself would not be destroyed.

Its a distinct possibility, in fact we should have been hit by huge asteroids already if it weren't for the powerful pull of our big gassy brother Jupiter, literally thousands of asteroids headed our way are pulled into Jupiter by the force of its gravity, the gas giant is earth's shield but it ain't 100% guarantee eg. The freakin huge asteroid that slip past and wacked all the dinosaurs.

There are no asteroids large enough to destroy Earth. We'd have to get hit by Venus for the Earth to be destroyed.

It has already happened, only the sterotypical " asteroid" that you think of has been replaced by modern times - CANT WE GO BACK TO THE DAYS OF LEAVE IT TO BEAVER

I doubt it. Its more likely that we will destroy the Earth ourselves, without the help od an asteroid

It is possible. You see, our planet is surrounded by billions and billions of celestial bodies. Time can only tell if one huge asteriod will hit us.

Once, I read about this huge asteriod that will hit our planet in year 2030 (as predicted by scientists). Our scientists are now finding a way to prevent this huge thing from hitting us (but as we know, if GOD planned that way, nothing can stop it.)

So the most powerful and effective thing is PRAYER.

SEARCH on the name "Nostrdamus". You will get a lot of revealing facts, who born in 1503 died in 1566 had predicted many many events, so much so even the world war I, WW II, the 9/11 WTC in US etc. etc.

He had suggested in one of his books that the prayer power can alter or postpone a catastrophe.

The source of destruction is not certain, as destruction is taking place like AIDS, birdflu, SARS etc (implosion)
explosion is also a possibility.

Probably not be an asteroid, that would be highly improbable.
