they seem to start off normal then go all weirdo with odd religions (Tom Cruise, Madonna, Mel Gibson).....

They get so rich and famous so fast that they loose their selves and start thinking they are all powerful demi-gods! You gotta pity them in a way; I guess money and power will do that to some people!

Having money does not make a person suddenly centered and enlightened. Being self-actuated (a good thing) comes from an internal process, sometimes painful. Perhaps some of the stars in Hollywood have stopped spiritual growth due to having so much cash and fame. Then suddenly they get drunk and say stupid things. The only difference between them and regular folks is that the cameras are always on the look out for them to slip up. This apparently makes news.
Here is a biblical tale that a lot of people have heard of but I know they have not heard the full story. Unfortunately this scene ended up on the cutting room floor when they were cutting Mel's last big Jesus movie.
It goes like this: Jesus was walking along this funky backwater town and he heard a commotion coming from the town square. As he walked up, he noticed there was a circle of people around a woman, and they were getting ready to stone her, saying she was a harlot or an adulteress, I forget which. So, anyway, Jesus walked up to the edge of the crowd and said, "Let the one of you who is without sin cast the first stone." Well, that stopped them, for a minute.
From the opposite side of the square, this little old lady walked up with a big old rock and dinged the woman in the center with it. Everyone gasped. All eyes turned towards the Jesus to see what his reaction would be. The guys in the CNN crew, Fox, and all the other networks turned their cameras on the Master.
Jesus looked angry. He shook his head. Then he looked at the little old lady and said, "Mother . . .. Sometimes you really **** me off!
I am not very religious, as you may be able to tell from this joke. And I mean no disrespect for those of you who are. But I like to get my lessons wherever they are found. Since I am not the Mother of God. Since I certainly have made stupid mistakes, I try not to judge those Hollywood folks too much. After all, we really are just humans.

Challenges have all been met. Nothing more to strive for. Boredom. Successful and sad. The human mind needs to have challenges.

It's possible that they spend so much time playing make believe, plus their incomes remove them from the daily struggle that the may tend to loose sight of what is reality. maybe.
