3:00 am is known as the witching hour. Their are different belifs about it. Some say its at that time that the spirits can roam the earth, acctually that should be from 12:00 to 3:00. It is supposed to be a powerful time for evil. And those who practice evil.

I've always heard that 3:00am is the Witching Hour..or rather the end of the Witching Hour. There is conflicting information on the Witching Hour....some say midnight, some say midnight to 3 am some say there's no such thing...lol Should it be important to know that the Witching Hour has nothing to do with a certain limit of time as in a single hour?

3 am is often considered the middle of the night. Since most people were up often by 6am with the crow of the cock. (wow, yahoo stars out rooster too, hmmm)

My mom who was always into folklore always told me that the spirits of the dead were trying to communicate with a person at those times. Perhaps people get "witches" and "ghosts" confused.

3:00 a.m. is often called the "dead of the night." At about that time, most people who are going to give it up soon anyway give it up. I think I have a handle on why, but I can't explain how I know.

I believe that at the end of life, the mind gets to be most all of who you are. If there is pain, it is something to get away from. If there is other sensation, it is probably a struggle to keep it awake. Sort of a next step in that process you did as a child of fighting off sleep because you were never really sure you would wake up. At the end, you know that soon, you will just sleep. And at 3:00 a.m., the night has already been so long, just hanging on, and the day so far off yet, that you kinda get to thinking you don't really have to keep struggling to hang on. Especially if you've seen that your family is ready to accept doing without you, they will be OK, you don't have anything more you need to say to them, the chance to just slip off and forget trying is there, and you take it.

So you see, being awake at 3:00 a.m., you are in a very magical atmosphere. And you have chosen to be awake. Because if you are awake in "the dead of the night," you choose to be alive. One day, perhaps far, far in the future, you won't choose that way.

Afraid I can't really say what happens after that. I really can't say.

One of my friends, a witchy woman from the Deep South, always called it the devil's time. She often woke up at 3:00 AM on her own and went to sit on the porch, claiming that one of these days she fully expected to see the devil.

I've also heard that it's the time when the human body is at its weakest.

I honestly think that the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" has a good explaination of it. It is based on a true story and the Priest gives a good defention.
