To be Best Man at my brothers wedding next Saturday. And I need some ideas to write in my speech. It is the first wedding I have been to and not to sure what I need to include in a speech.

All ideas will be greatly accepted within reason.

Quick low-down on my brother

He is 24, he has always been part of my life and I would be lost without him, he is always there when I need him and he always gives great advice and always there for a shoulder to cry on.

Save the serious bit for the end.

You need to thank the bridesmaids and say how lovely the bride looks. Then make a few amusing gags - though nothing inappropriate. Then say the soppy bit and raise a toast to the bride and groom.

There are loads of books out there which can help, but most of them are rubbish, cheesy and totally unrealistic!

This website has loads of sample speeches so you can steal some ideas from them:

Have to say - you're leaving it a bit late!!

Apart from saying his age, I would think that your details to us are a great part of your speech. Probably the main part of your speech, probably the only words you need to say. Say the words you wrote to us and don't stress anymore. You've already said it all. You both are lucky to have such a great relationship. If you need to say more, choose just one story that illustrates how he was always there for you and how in turn he will always be there for his bride. I'm sure that you will be a great best man!

Boy he is a master of short notice isnt he :)

Cant give you duties since I have never done it myself .. all I know is if my brother got up and said

"he has always been part of my life and I would be lost without him, he is always there when I need him and he always gives great advice and always there for a shoulder to cry on."

to me .. he wouldnt need to say anymore and I would give him a hug so I think you are off to a good start!

well....just keep it as simple as you can, dont try to be really funny if that is not your character(people will see through it!), focus on talking about how great it was to grow up with him as your brother, tell a few childhood stories, let him know how much you will miss those times, but you are not sad because now you get a new sister so from now on you can start making new memories! Say how lucky they are to have found each other, how you are glad she has made him so happy, welcome her to your family and look forward to the future- and all it brings!!

all the best, there are loads of sites that give tips on speeches- try not to stress too much!

You need to remember you're the one whose meant to toast the bridesmaids (if there are any)

Best thing would be to drag up a funny story of when you were both young (maybe something that you've kept secret until now 'cos you were scared of getting in trouble)

To try and be a bit funny, make prompt cards that are large enough that say "LAUGH" "APPLAUSE" etc and hold them up when that's the response you're hoping for (it worked for me and people liked the idea)

The most important thing to remember though

KEEP IT SHORT

KEEP IT LIGHT

DON'T INSULT OR EMABARESS ANYONE!

Good Luck

the best speech is a short speech that amuses.
think of some funny stories from your childhood / recent adulthood that aren't going to be too embarrasing to your brother.
say how he's a big part of your life, and you couldn't be without him- but without getting too slushy. you say he gives good advice... was there any advice he gave you that was awful, but you laugh about it now? good luck.

nicely, i in my opinion imagine that women ought to each and every each and every now and then ask boys out, merely reason i'm a guy and dont have the heart to ask them out myself. yet i imagine why many of the adult men are anxious about asking is about what unusual rumours will be round once he asks. each and every each and every now and then it enables if the girl asks, it is going to offer the boy somewhat vanity.

My brother read out the lyrics to 'God only knows' at his wedding. It was lovely (and I am not romantic at all).
