212 runs against West Indies in the first Test of 1970/71 series
which was played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on 18, 19, 20, 22 and 23rd February, 1971. He scored 212 run with the help of 17 fours and one six in 470 Minutes. The match was drawn
In the same series Mr. S.M. Gavaskar scored 124 runs in the first innings and 220 runs in the second innings in the 5th Test at Queens Park Oval Port of Spain which was played on 13, 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19th April, 1971

Sardesai scored 212 runs in 470 minutes with 17 fours and 1 six, he finally got out to Holder, caught by Findlay.
Lot of them have wrongly said Sunil Gavaskar.
Sunil Gavaskar was not even playing in the first test match when Dilip Sardesai scored his double century. Sunil Gavaskar made his spectaular test debut in the second test match of the tour, dated 6-10 March 1971.
Sunil Gavaskar did scored double century in that tour, but in the fifth test match of the tour dated 13,14,15,17,18,19 April 1971(6 day match).
