Thank you for choosing Taco Bell, Would you like to try our new nacho cheese crunch grilled stuffed burrito today?
I'm not sure what the new item is called but always ask if they want to try the new item and after they order if they do not order a drink then ask if they would like to add a drink to there order. Remember in fast food you always want to up sale.
Hope I helped ya.
for example:
Drivethru: Welcome to Taco Bell Would you like to try our new Nacho Cheese Crunch Grilled Stuffed Burrito?
Customer: No Thanks, I'll have 2 tacos with no lettuce and 2 orders of nachos and cheese.
Drivthru: Would you like crunchy or soft tacos?
Customer: Soft
Drivethru: Would you like to add a drink to your order today?
Customer: Yes Please, I would like a Medium Diet Pepsi
Drivethru: Okay i have your order as 2 soft tacos minus lettuce, 2 orders of nachos and cheese and a medium diet Pepsi
Customer: Yes That's correct
Drivethru: Your total is $4.36 Please pull to the window

I know this is so old but...
I work at McDonald's and this is what I say.
"Thank you for choosing McDonalds, my name is LaQuan, would you like to try our new Bacon Clubhouse Burger today?"
That's my personalized greeting, I think that it's better to include your name so that the customer can leave constructive criticism, or compliments. It becomes especially confusing to customers that don't know that we have two order-takers, because of our double drive-thru, it leaves a personal touch, and it easier to commend/train employees based on customer review.

I have spent several years training people for my local Wendy's Franchise and the Wendy's International corporate policy say's
" Hi, may I take your order please"
BTW...have you ever noticed that Wendy's is the only place that is really concerned about giving quality and speedy service?
50 store franchise record time for service at drive-thru for lunch rush is 30 seconds from the time you pull up to the speaker to the time you pull away with food in hand.

No, I wouldn't ask "Hi, how are you?" because people in drive-thrus just want to order their food and be done with it. Save the pleasantries for inside the restaurant, when you are looking at your customer face to face.
That reminds me of when I worked at Burger King about 10 years ago, my co-worker had the worst speech impediment, yet she insisted on working drive-thru. Nobody could understand a word she said.

Think that's a bit too familiar ... Why don't you say:"Welcome at Taco Bell, how can I help you?"

I would say
Welcome by Taco bell - may i take your order please?
- can i take your order please?
what i find most important is your tone if its friendly its good, the one costumer can`t help it when the other one before was a jerk to you.
Good luck(i love taco bell)

I work at El Pollo Loco.
At the drive-thru, I have to say: How you doing today, may I take your order please. I rarely do that, I usually say may I help you.

I would go with mernsey's answer. Be nice by saying "Hello", welcome the customer, and ask for the order. Just try to be sincere when you greet people.
