I've travelled Thailand and Vietnam.

We did Thailand first, though looking back, I might have changed this because Vietnam was very busy and lots to do, whereas Thailand was the relaxing beach bit and I think it would have been nice to relax at the end of our travels.

Having said that, having slept in huts on beaches throughout the whole of Thailand, there was nothing better then a proper hotel in Vietnam.

We had all our internal flights booked before we went and we were found that they were all very flexible and we changed quite a few of them whilst we were there.

Thia transport as tourist trasport like out of Koh San Road or Phi Phi is a total ripoff and awful...

Stick to thai trains which are really nice, thai vip busses which are like first class. Avoid tuk tuks... Insist on meters in taxis

I took the overnight train from the beaches in the South to Bangkok. It was cool. Cheap, and the meals were massive. Useless plates though - lots of slopping.

I also took a 747 to all of those places because it's quick and my understanding is that some of those borders are pretty creepy.
